About The Position

We are hiring at Starling Physicians! This role involves assisting the physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and physician access, functioning as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians, and maintaining efficient patient flow. The Registered Nurse delivers direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Starling Physicians policy. This position requires collecting and accurately labeling lab specimens, prioritizing patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures, and ensuring proper preparation for patient visits by preparing pertinent information. The role also involves effectively communicating problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager promptly, and assuring all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care. The nurse will employ appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR, obtain vital signs accurately, and document appropriately in EHR. Administering injections according to protocol and documenting them accurately in EHR, demonstrating telephone triage protocols, and scheduling appointments appropriately are also key functions. Adherence to universal safety precautions, reviewing and updating medication lists, demonstrating understanding of prescription control and refill procedures, and accurately documenting known allergies in EHR are required. The role involves entering orders and scheduling appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR, providing referrals and/or consult orders appropriately, and checking/maintaining logs for emergency equipment. Facilitating transition of care to UCC/Hospital and maintaining proficiency with department-specific equipment are also responsibilities. General duties include assisting in ordering and maintaining supplies, and demonstrating flexibility with various work schedules. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required.
  • CT Nursing License and BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • 0-1 years experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
  • Dialysis experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures.
  • Accurately and completely documents known allergies in EHR.
  • Appropriately enters orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
  • Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
  • Checks and maintains logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
  • Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
  • Maintains proficiency with department specific equipment troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptly.
  • Assists in ordering and maintaining of all supplies as assigned.
  • Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules.
  • Other duties as required.
