About The Position

Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a nonprofit organization providing behavioral health crisis response services in Baltimore, including telephone crisis support, mobile crisis response teams, residential crisis services, and medical detoxification services. Since 1992, BCRI has provided behavioral health crisis intervention and substance use treatment services for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises in Baltimore. We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care to clients in a residential substance use treatment setting under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. In this role, you will perform nursing assessments upon admission, administer and monitor medications, evaluate client health concerns, coordinate medical referrals, and develop discharge care plans for ongoing medical needs. You will maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, ensure compliance with Maryland nursing regulations and infection control standards, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team to support clients throughout their recovery while promoting their overall health, safety, and wellness.

Requirements

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, detoxification, or psychiatric nursing strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in an acute care, long-term care, or residential treatment setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct nursing assessments, administer medications, and manage clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Familiarity with infection control practices, regulatory compliance, and chart review/audit preparation preferred.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills with the ability to respond effectively to patient needs and clinical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and conduct ongoing evaluations to identify and address clients’ medical needs.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and organizational policies.
  • Monitor clients’ physical health, vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and chronic medical conditions, and provide timely nursing interventions as needed.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and urgent health concerns in accordance with established protocols.
  • Coordinate medical referrals, appointments, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment.
  • Develop discharge care plans and provide client education regarding medications and ongoing medical needs.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, medication administration records, and incident reports.
  • Review medical records regularly to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and follow up on infection control and surveillance activities in accordance with agency policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, counselors, case managers, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team to coordinate client care.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager, Clinical Director, or designee.
