About The Position

This position applies the nursing process to provide direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families and collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to meet patient needs. The nurse may delegate aspects of care to people under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice. The role is for newly licensed RNs in specialty areas who are enrolled in and required to complete the First Year Experience Program, RNs with less than one year of full-time acute care RN experience before entering their RN role at TriHealth, or RNs with less than two years of part-time acute care RN experience before entering their RN role at TriHealth. Upon completing all First Year Experience Program requirements, the nurse will move to the Registered Nurse - Staff position. TriHealth encourages continuing education, formal education and degree advancement, specialty certification, membership in nursing organizations, community health activities, nursing research, evidence-based practice, and collaborative relationships among nurses, physicians, and other caregivers.

Requirements

Associate's degree or diploma in nursing.
Up to one year of clinical nursing experience.
Complete all elements of the First Year Experience Program within one year.
Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle.
Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families, complete the initial assessment tool, document ongoing assessments, and communicate findings to other health care providers as appropriate.
Include health counseling and teaching needs in assessments; plan care based on assessments, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes.
Initiate and individualize patient care guidelines, plans of care, or clinical pathways, and update them based on patient and family input and health care needs.
Provide a safe, therapeutic environment; maintain patient autonomy, dignity, and rights; and respond sensitively to patient diversity.
Communicate the plan of care, develop short- and long-term goals with patients, families, and the health care team, and include discharge planning.
Balance patient needs with unit and facility priorities, seek resources for ethical decisions, recognize emergencies and take appropriate action, and complete assignments and documentation within scheduled timeframes.
Base interventions on clinical data and desired outcomes, and document care accordingly.
Train and educate other staff and act as a resource in the specialty area by applying existing and new knowledge and skills.
Communicate effectively, understand and carry out physician orders, and evaluate plans of care based on patient outcomes.
Document patient and family responses to care, including teaching; collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members to revise plans of care as needed.
Supervise care delegated to other health care team members.
Identify areas for self-improvement, function in relief charge or resource roles when requested, maintain current practice knowledge, and demonstrate knowledge of organizational and departmental changes.
Cooperate with instructors to facilitate effective learning experiences for students.
