About The Position

Provides and coordinates advanced nursing care in a non-acute specialty ambulatory, medical office, clinic or urgent care setting in accordance with the State Board of Nursing, Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state regulations, accreditation standards and Prisma Health’s philosophy, policies and procedures. This position is bonus eligible. The Registered Nurse will provide direct nursing care within established policies, procedures, and protocols and in accordance with the regulatory scope of practice and Board of Nursing in the state in which work is performed. They will provide advanced patient care based upon an individualized plan of care including the patient's physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs. The nurse will maintain an advanced knowledge base of disease entities, medications, and treatments specific to the medicine specialty practice that performs specialized procedures using advanced tools and monitoring. They will perform or assist with procedures specific to the specialty (e.g., chemotherapy, IUI, nitrous oxide administration, insulin therapy, etc.), conduct in-depth assessments and monitoring specific to the specialty, which may involve specialized diagnostic tests and managing complex treatments. The role focuses on targeted, complex, advanced care and performs specialized procedures or treatments and administers prescribed medications. The nurse will utilize the unique knowledge, skills, and competencies required in ambulatory care nursing practice to promote wellness, restore health, and address health-related situational problems. They will assess patients’ needs and apply advanced ambulatory care nursing knowledge and evidence-based nursing practice when developing an individualized plan of care for each patient. The role involves coordinating and documenting patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner, including patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety. The nurse will delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications. Adherence to infection control and safety protocols is essential. The nurse will communicate appropriate information regarding patient condition or concerns to other health care team members and educate patients and families to appropriately perform any recommended post-visit self-care tasks. Integration of patient and family education throughout the delivery of care is crucial so they may make informed health related decisions. The role provides a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. The nurse will serve as a role model and participate in educating and mentoring other members of the care team. They will attend department and organization meetings, complete annual and as needed compliance training, and practice safe, efficient use of supplies and resources. Maintaining a clean, safe, and caring environment for patients, family, and other staff is required. The nurse assumes responsibility for their own professional development and continuing education. They may serve as a preceptor, unit champion, or participate in shared governance. Adherence to all compliance, policies and procedures of the organization is mandatory. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing (AD N). BSN preferred.
  • One (1) year of clinical nursing experience within specialty or related applicable specialty.
  • Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Certification in specialty area preferred.
  • IV insertion and maintenance skills preferred.
