About The Position

The CMAT Registered Nurse functions as an integral member of the Children’s Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (CMAT). The individual in this position utilizes the nursing process to provide pediatric nursing expertise, assessment and evaluation services for children and youth in the determination of medically necessary long-term care services for Medical Foster Care (MFC), Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) and Model Waiver. In this position you will bring your nursing expertise to a collaborative, family‑centered team dedicated to ensuring children receive the care they need in the most supportive settings. In this role, you’ll review referrals and medical records, conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, and clearly communicate findings to families, providers, and community partners. You’ll be a key voice in multidisciplinary team discussions, helping determine eligibility for long‑term care services while advocating for family participation and the least restrictive care options. Beyond assessments, you’ll provide education, training, and outreach to stakeholders, strengthening awareness of the CMAT program and empowering families. You’ll also contribute to quality improvement initiatives, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and excellence in documentation and outcomes. Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse License in the State of Florida or Multistate RN License from another Compact State.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of nursing care of the child with special health care needs.
  • Knowledge of foster care system and child/family community resources.
  • Skill in performing nursing assessments.
  • Skill in performing clinical nursing activities.
  • Skill in providing training and education to health care professionals, parents, and medical foster care parents.
  • Skill in nursing documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to access and utilize community resources.
  • Ability to access information from computer data systems and websites.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage a daily schedule of activities.
  • Computer skills, including use of standard office machinery such as laptops, scanners, cell phones, printers and programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Sharepoint.
  • Experience with electronic health records and data entry.
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 Years of pediatric nursing experience with children and youth with special health care needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with or familiarity with the child welfare system, Medicaid Managed Care or Care Coordination/Case Management.
  • Experience with electronic health records and data entry.
