About The Position

The Registered Nurse, School Health is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of school based health, first aid, and safety-related programs. Requirements

• Associates Degree Nursing
• Nursing 1-3 years
• Public/Community Health Nursing or Maternal/Child Nursing 1-3 years
• BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
• Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing
• Must be able to assess health and safety needs of students and/or faculty and apply teaching and learning strategies.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to integrate nursing knowledge and theory into school nursing practices.
• Knowledge of basic principles of research, statistics, data collection, and analysis.
• Computer experience and literacy.

Responsibilities

• Plans for emergency first aid and preventative services.
• Documents accurately, objectively, and completely.
• Serves as a resource person and counselor on health and safety-related issues.
• Provides for case management of student health needs.
• Provides training, in-service, and educational programs to students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrates and promotes professional practices and development.
