About The Position

United Health Services is seeking a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking. In this highly specialized role, the SAFE RN delivers comprehensive medical-forensic services, conducts forensic examinations, collects and preserves evidence, administers prophylactic medications, and supports patients through every step of their care journey with dignity, empathy, and professionalism. Working in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines, the SAFE RN collaborates closely with physicians, victim advocates, law enforcement, and other community partners to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN).
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care, Women’s Health, or Pediatrics preferred.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Emotional resilience.
  • Strict adherence to patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently under high-stress conditions.
  • Must have successfully completed the NYS Department of Health-approved 40-hour SAFE training curriculum (or be willing to complete it within 3 months of hire).
  • Completion of required clinical preceptorship hours and pelvic examination competencies as mandated by NYS DOH for official SAFE designation.

  • ACLS, PALS, SANE-A, AFN-C, LNCC preferred.
