Registered Nurse, RN (Full Time-Nights)- Labor & Delivery
About The Position
This is a full-time night position for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Texas Health Plano. The role involves providing direct patient care using the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The nurse will also maintain continuity of care between shifts and facilitate patient transfers. The Labor & Delivery unit is equipped with 17 LDR rooms, 4 OR suites, and a separate Antepartum/High Risk OB department, handling approximately 350-400 deliveries per month. Texas Health Plano is a Magnet-designated hospital known for advanced technological care and a wide range of specialties.
Requirements
- Associate degree Nursing required or Nursing Diploma
- 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program (Required)
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (Required upon hire)
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly (Required)
- NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days (Required)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days (Required)
- IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring 6 Months (Required upon hire)
- NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days (Required)
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req
Nice To Haves
- BSN (Preferred)
- 1 Year of Labor & Delivery experience or L&D Residency (Strongly Preferred)
- Baby catching experience (Helpful)
- Charge Nurse Labor & Delivery experience (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
