Registered Nurse (RN) - Spinal Cord
About The Position
The Detroit Medical Center Registered Nurse is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides care for a group of patients and their families, applying independent judgment and communicating and collaborating with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision. The RN reports directly to senior unit management and participates in shared decision-making activities. The position is with DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, a hospital specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedic, and catastrophic injury care.
Requirements
- Graduation from a school of nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.
- Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
- Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
- Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
- Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
