This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Hematology/Oncology Clinic at Clemmons Medical Plaza, part of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout their care continuum. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, with appropriate action taken as needed. The nurse may administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to protocols. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. Professional development, continuing education, and maintaining certifications are expected. Ethical decision-making, respect for interdisciplinary roles, and contributing to integrated, unbiased patient care are paramount. The role involves appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and unlicensed assistive personnel, and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation. The nurse may be required to float to other units or facilities within the service area to meet patient care needs. The position requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development principles and assessing data reflective of patient status and age-specific needs.
