About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) will follow established standards of nursing practices and implement facility policies and procedures. This role involves interpreting policies, supervising and evaluating direct client care, and making frequent rounds. The RN will obtain and provide reports to the oncoming and off-going nurses, perform basic nursing skills, identify client problems and emergency situations, and initiate appropriate action. The position also includes following admission and discharge/transfer procedures, providing clinical supervision, assisting with staffing, participating in employee evaluations, and managing medication delivery and administration. The RN will conduct comprehensive client assessments, assist in developing treatment plans, and facilitate and document treatment groups. They will administer PRN medications and treatments, notify physicians of changes in client conditions, and document client care and responses. The role requires personal continuing education and supervision of client calls for assistance. The RN will act as a charge nurse and cover various shifts as needed. The position also involves supporting and assisting in crisis intervention and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.

Requirements

Current CPR and First Aid certificate
Current TB test
Valid drivers license
RN license
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to read computer screens
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Proper lifting techniques
Must be able to balance, limb, crouch, grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach, stand and stoop adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must be able to read and write the English language.
Must be able to work inside and outside with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Follows established standards of nursing practices and implements facility policies and procedures.
Interprets existing policies and procedures to charge nurses, client assistants, clients, families, and physicians.
Supervises and evaluates all direct client care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
Makes frequent rounds in the facility.
Obtains report from nurse he/she is relieving and records sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary.
Provides report to nurse coming on duty, including sufficient information for follow-up action if necessary.
Knowledgeably and competently perform basic nursing skills.
Identifies client problems and emergency situations and initiates and immediate plan of action according to facility policies and procedures.
Follows, supervises, and evaluates the implementation of the Client Rights program.
Follows admission procedures and communicates client admissions to other departments, physicians and ancillary service providers.
Provides clinical supervision of client assistant.
Assists with covering staffing and making calls to cover any staff call offs.
Participates in the employee evaluation process by providing information on the clinical performance of client assistants.
Receives medication delivery from pharmacy, checks and documents medications received.
Administers and documents a comprehensive assessment of each client as needed or assigned.
Assists with the development of an accurate and comprehensive treatment plan based on the client needs.
Plans, facilitates, and documents treatment groups in accordance with clients treatment plan.
Administers PRN medications and treatments as necessary.
Notifies the physician, when necessary, of changes in clients conditions, weight, medication errors, medication not available, abnormal lab/x-ray results and any other unusual observations.
Documents client care provided and the clients response or lack of response to care provided.
Personally obtains continuing education.
Supervises response to clients calls for assistance.
Follows facility discharge/transfer procedure and coordinates discharge/transfer with other departments, physicians, and ancillary service providers.
Acts as a charge nurse and covers the floor/various shifts as needed for the best interest of the facility.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Subacute Detox Nurse Manager.
Supports and assists in crisis intervention and at all other times deemed appropriate in a manner consistent with SMR policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of Silver Maple Recoverys policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan, State Licensing standards, and managed care regulations.
