About The Position

We are seeking a dependable Registered Nurse (RN) to contribute to the well-being of the individuals we serve. This role offers a flexible schedule tailored to the needs of our Residential program, with both part-time and full-time opportunities available. Current openings are situated within the communities of Brentwood, Smithtown, Islandia, E. Islip, Coram, and Port Jefferson Station.

Requirements

  • NYS RN license.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist in the overall health and safety of the individuals served.
  • Supervise and train direct care staff regarding medication administration, universal precautions, infection control, health and safety issues.
  • Complete yearly recertification, including practicum, for each medication-certified person.
  • Implement guidance policy as appropriate to address medication errors or violations of health and safety procedures by direct care staff.
  • Be available by phone 24-hours to address medical emergencies.
  • Ensure maintenance and review of all medical records per state and federal guidelines and UCP policy.
  • Ensure all indicated and annual medical appointments and lab work are scheduled and followed up appropriately and as per UCP policy.
  • Monitor and review medication administration records, recording of medications, medication orders, labels, etc.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of medication on hand.
  • Monitor and maintain an adequate supply of medical goods and equipment, as well as first aid supplies.
  • Complete all paperwork as assigned by the director of Residential Services or designee, and according to UCP policy (to include monthly nursing notes, self-administration of medication evaluation, infection control reports, etc.).
  • Document medical and pharmacological services and issues.
  • Ensure pharmacy review of medication every 90 days.
  • Ensure individuals are living in a safe and hygienic manner.
  • Give yearly recertification, including practicum, to each (AMAP) medication-certified aide, and certify staff in tube feeding, colostomy care, and diabetes care as needed.
