About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at Aurora West Allis Medical Center. The IMCU cares for moderately stable patients with an elevated risk for instability. These patients may include ICU step-down patients, those who are chronically ventilated via tracheostomy, and patients with a higher risk of decompensation based on lab data, vital signs, and comorbidities. The unit fosters a supportive, collaborative, and teaching culture with an equal mix of experienced staff and new graduates. The typical RN to patient ratio is 1:3-4 during the day and 1:3-4 during the night. The role involves building foundational skills through preceptor-directed orientation, developing skills in triaging, lab interpretation, pathophysiology, pharmacology, time management, and communication for intermediate acuity patients. The RN will coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, deliver safe and therapeutic care, and develop collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team. This position offers continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts and emphasizes patient-centered care and team-minded support. The RN will be a valued member of a highly skilled, versatile nursing team committed to delivering quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • At least 1 year of experience as an RN

Responsibilities

  • Build foundational skills and knowledge through Preceptor directed orientation.
  • Build skills in triaging, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process, pharmacology, time management, and communication skills for intermediate acuity patients with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
  • Be a valued member of a highly skilled, versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.
