Registered Nurse (RN)

AOC Outreach ServicesHouston, TX
$40 - $50Hybrid

About The Position

AOC Outreach Services is a comprehensive mental and behavioral health service provider based in Houston, Texas, serving children, families, and individuals across the community. Through the AOC Crisis Program, our team delivers 24/7 crisis access, rapid screening and triage, and least-restrictive, whole-person care built on a “No Wrong Door” approach — so that however someone reaches us, they're connected to the right level of support, right away. Joining this team means being part of the people who show up for our clients on their hardest days. As a Registered Nurse with the AOC Crisis Program, you'll be a vital clinical presence for individuals and families navigating a mental health or substance use crisis. You'll provide health literacy counseling, medication administration, and hands-on nursing support that helps clients understand and manage their care — working alongside QMHPs, therapists, and prescribers to stabilize clients in crisis and connect them to ongoing treatment.

Requirements

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to stay calm and clear during high-stress moments.
  • Ability to educate clients using plain, non-technical language.
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary crisis team.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, cultural competence, and client-centered care.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of clinical experience involving medication management and client education preferred; crisis or behavioral health experience is a plus.

  • Help clients ask questions and advocate for their own health needs.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for adverse reactions or side effects.
  • Support medication adherence with practical, easy-to-follow strategies clients can use at home.
  • Collaborate with physicians and pharmacists to ensure safe, effective medication management.
  • Work closely with the crisis team — QMHPs, therapists, and case managers — to coordinate care during and after a client's crisis contact.
  • Help clients navigate the healthcare system and connect with the right level of ongoing support.
  • Ensure continuity of care by communicating clearly with every member of the treatment team.
  • Maintain accurate, timely client records, including education sessions, medication administration, and progress notes.
