About The Position

Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Float Pool in Rockford, Illinois. The nurse will provide care across Medical Surgical, Cardiac Telemetry, Stroke Neuro, Step-Down ICU, and ICU units. Candidates must have intensive care experience, be flexible to float to Medical Surgical units as needed, and have extensive cardiac experience. The position works nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with holiday coverage required.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; education verification is required.
• Experience in intensive care settings.
• Flexibility to float to Medical Surgical units as needed.
• Extensive cardiac experience.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver optimal patient care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Document patient care accurately and according to established standards.
• Develop, initiate, and carry out individualized patient care plans as prescribed by a physician and in accordance with hospital policy; provide education to patients and families.
• Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
• Apply critical thinking to patient safety and experience, and escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
