About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Urgent Care is accountable for providing high quality professional care to patients and families under the supervision of the provider. This role involves performing nursing assessments, administering medications and treatments, coordinating patient care activities, and educating patients and families about their health and wellness. The nurse will also be responsible for laboratory collections, specimen handling, and assisting providers during procedures. Maintaining exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness, and managing supplies are also key aspects of the position. The role requires adherence to infection prevention measures and performing other assigned duties.

  • Associate's Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing.
  • An active license in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing assessment and evaluation of patients and documents information.
  • Provides continuity of care through verbal and written communication.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
  • Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
  • Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, taking vitals and conducting a nursing assessment.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Educate patient and family about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Responsible for laboratory collection.
  • Assures appropriate labeling and packaging of lab specimens according to lab procedures and x-rays according to radiology procedures.
  • Assists in cleaning/maintaining lab equipment.
  • Maintains a reference log to assure patient test results returned.
  • Follow up on any missing reports.
  • Prepares the equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients within scope of license.
  • Responsible for IV administration of fluids and intravenous medications, injections and venous access maintenance and care, heplocks, working with picc lines and porta-caths.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and material.
  • Ensures cleanliness in exam rooms and orders and maintains supply of medications.
  • Prevents the spread of infection and maintains adequate infection prevention measures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
