About The Position

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas. We offer inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs for adolescents, adults, and seniors. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health practices and be committed to providing high-quality care to patients experiencing psychiatric disorders. This role ensures patient safety, comfort, and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. We are looking for qualified professionals with an active/clear license in the state of Texas. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is highly preferred. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available with a commitment. This position involves night shifts from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am, including rotating weekends.

Requirements

  • Active/clear license in the state of Texas.
  • CPR certification.
  • Training in appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint within 30 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Handle with Care training and Service Excellence Training within 30 days of employment.

  • Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation.
  • Experience with behavioral health patients.
  • Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients.
  • Familiarity with older adult care practices.
  • Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting.
  • Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
  • Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
  • Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.
