About The Position

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas. We offer inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs for adolescents, adults, and seniors. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health practices and be committed to providing high-quality care to patients experiencing psychiatric disorders. This role ensures patient safety, comfort, and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. We are looking for qualified professionals with an active/clear license in the state of Texas. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is highly preferred. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available with a commitment. This position involves night shifts from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am, including rotating weekends.

Requirements

Active/clear license in the state of Texas.
CPR certification.
Training in appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint within 30 days of employment.
Successful completion of Handle with Care training and Service Excellence Training within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting.
Competence in taking vital signs accurately.

Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing.
A minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status and needs.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.
