About The Position
Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) to join our Emergency Department team. In this role, you'll provide rapid assessment, emergency treatment, and compassionate care to patients experiencing illness, injury, and other medical emergencies. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) delivers high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced hospital emergency department. Working collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the ED RN rapidly assesses, prioritizes, stabilizes, and treats patients while ensuring safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current West Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Emergency Department nursing experience.
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments, obtain detailed medical histories, and develop individualized plans of care.
- Perform triage by evaluating both physical and psychosocial patient needs.
- Provide emergency nursing care while prioritizing multiple patients based on acuity.
- Monitor patient conditions and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and emergency interventions.
- Clean, dress, and manage wounds while providing ongoing patient care.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, medications, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Report suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with hospital policy and legal requirements.
- Maintain emergency equipment, supplies, and a clean, organized treatment environment.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to provide exceptional patient care.
- Participate in continuing education, required training, and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
