About The Position
St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, has served the Smithtown area for over 50 years. It is a 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital with a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation center and a 60,000 sq ft medical office building. The hospital is dedicated to providing advanced healthcare in a compassionate environment, focusing on patient care, professional development, and community service. The Department of Psychiatry is the largest in-patient psychiatric facility in Suffolk County, offering holistic, patient-centered care and advocacy for adults aged 18+ with primary mental illness diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depressive disorders. The hospital emphasizes a collaborative approach, evidence-based practice, and compassionate care.
Requirements
- Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Nursing
- New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
Nice To Haves
- New Graduate Registered Nurses are welcome
- 1+ Years of RN experience working in Psychiatry/Behavioral Health/Mental Health preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and overall management of care for the Psychiatric patient population
- Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, Registered Nurses (RNs), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction
- Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education
