About The Position

St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, has served the Smithtown area for over 50 years. It is a 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital with a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation center and a 60,000 sq ft medical office building. The hospital is dedicated to providing advanced healthcare in a compassionate environment, focusing on patient care, professional development, and community service. The Department of Psychiatry is the largest in-patient psychiatric facility in Suffolk County, offering holistic, patient-centered care and advocacy for adults aged 18+ with primary mental illness diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depressive disorders. Requirements

  • Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Nursing
  • New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required

Nice To Haves

  • New Graduate Registered Nurses are welcome
  • 1+ Years of RN experience working in Psychiatry/Behavioral Health/Mental Health preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and overall management of care for the Psychiatric patient population
  • Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, Registered Nurses (RNs), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction
  • Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education
