About The Position

This is a New to Practice Registered Nurse (RN) position at Southside Medical Center, a 300-bed facility serving the communities of Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Fort Lee and Chester and the counties of Prince George, Dinwiddie, Sussex, Surry and Southern Chesterfield. The role involves delivering patient care using the nursing process, including data collection, assessment, problem identification, care planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will also coordinate patient teaching and the care provided by health team members.

Requirements

• Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required)
• Associate of Nursing, nursing (required) OR Diploma in Nursing (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred)

• Bachelors of Science, nursing (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Analyzes assessment data and creates a plan of care.
• Implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
• Administers medications safely and consistently with State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Serves as the point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
• Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
• Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
