About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Family Birthing Center’s Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) and Level 1 Nursery unit in Salida, Colorado, providing care during night shifts. The schedule is 1800–0600 for 36 hours per week. Weekend and holiday coverage is required, and overtime is optional after 40 hours. The role may involve floating to other units, including Med Surg, telemetry, and emergency departments, to support patient care.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in a relevant nursing position.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
Current, active Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado.
BLS certification.
NRP certification.
Ability to use hands for manual tasks and communication.
Ability to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch frequently.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Close vision for detail-oriented tasks and ability to adjust focus between different distances.

Nice To Haves

PALS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess and evaluate the health status of laboring patients and neonates and participate in collaborative care planning.
Provide direct patient care and monitor patient responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
Promote wellness and provide education for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum.
Document care and education in patient medical records.
Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing supervisors.
Maintain clinical skills and learn new procedures with Family Birthing Center staff.
Collaborate with nursery nurses in the care of mother-baby couplets.
Assist physicians with medical procedures as required.
Maintain a clean and safe environment within the unit.
Provide patient-care support in other units as needed, including Med Surg, telemetry, and emergency departments.
