Position Overview RNs will provide direct nursing care and clinical support within a Primary Care clinic setting at the Dayton VA Medical Center. Working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, the RNs will coordinate patient care, support chronic disease management initiatives, and ensure Veterans receive exceptional healthcare services.

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience within the last three (3) years
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based healthcare environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and nursing support in a Primary Care clinic environment
  • Perform patient assessments, collect health histories, and document findings in the electronic health record
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, and patient education
  • Coordinate patient care plans and communicate treatment recommendations to patients and caregivers
  • Triage patient concerns and determine appropriate follow-up actions
  • Monitor patient conditions and communicate significant changes to providers
  • Support chronic disease management and preventive health initiatives
  • Coordinate referrals, specialty consultations, and follow-up care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings and care coordination activities
  • Provide clinical consultation and support to healthcare providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation within CPRS and other VA systems
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards
  • Adhere to all VA policies, procedures, privacy requirements, and clinical guidelines
  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.
