About The Position

The RN Unit Registered Nurse delivers quality nursing care to patients through interpersonal contact and provides care and services to assure patient safety and attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each patient in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and MUSC Health standards. This is a PRN opportunity for an experienced nurse interested in Skilled Nursing.

Requirements

  • Must possess a nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing).
  • Must be currently licensed/registered in applicable State.
  • Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
  • Must have expert knowledge in field of practice.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility.
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department.
  • Must perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all care team members, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to MUSC Health’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
  • Associate's Degree.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
  • Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
  • Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
  • Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, as well as to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
  • Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
  • Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
  • Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs floor to waist, lift 35 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 lbs, and push/pull 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year geriatric nursing experience preferred.

  • Evaluate patient needs through ongoing assessment and revise care plans based on changes in patient's condition.
