About The Position

The Behavioral Health Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing services to individuals receiving treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. This position works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team to support patient recovery, wellness, and overall health through assessment, education, care planning, group facilitation, and direct patient care.

Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, mental health, and substance use disorder treatment principles.
  • Experience developing and implementing nursing care plans.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work onsite at designated treatment locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, addiction treatment, rehabilitation, or substance use disorder services.
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducational or nursing-focused groups.
  • Familiarity with EHR platforms such as Sunwave
  • Knowledge of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and recovery-oriented systems of care.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate nursing groups and individual educational sessions focused on substance use recovery, mental health, medication education, health promotion, and wellness.
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments to identify physical, behavioral, and psychosocial needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs and treatment goals.
  • Provide education regarding substance use disorders, mental health conditions, medications, relapse prevention, lifestyle modifications, and self-care practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, counselors, case managers, peer supporters, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate significant findings to the treatment team.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Promote a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment that emphasizes dignity, respect, empathy, and patient-centered care.
  • Implement nursing interventions consistent with evidence-based behavioral health and addiction treatment practices.
  • Assist in identifying and responding to medical and behavioral health concerns that may arise during treatment.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, accreditation, ethical, and organizational standards and requirements.
