About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Emergency Department involves providing comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care to a diverse patient population, from neonates to geriatrics. Key responsibilities include patient assessment, individualized care plan development, direct patient care, medication administration, and continuous monitoring of patient outcomes. The role requires strong collaboration and communication with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, as well as patient and family education. Additionally, the RN is expected to engage in professional development, mentor peers, and ensure strict adherence to regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and ethical standards set by the Idaho State Board of Nursing, American Nurses Association, and Gritman Medical Center's values.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Idaho or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).
  • Minimum two (2) years in Emergency Medicine required.
  • Strong critical thinking and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
  • Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN).

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Implement nursing interventions based on patient needs and physician orders.
  • Provide age-appropriate nursing care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and effectively.
  • Communicate patient status and changes to physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient and family education tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Educate and mentor nursing students, novice nurses, and peers.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Uphold the standards set by the Idaho State Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Association.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission accreditation requirements and hospital policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety by identifying and reporting potential risks.
  • Maintain competency in emergency nursing procedures and protocols.
