About The Position

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team. This role involves working closely with individuals experiencing psychiatric disorders, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with an active/clear license in the state of Texas. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is highly preferred. The shift is days, from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm, with rotating weekends.

Requirements

• Active/clear license in the state of Texas.
• Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing.
• Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
• CPR certification.
• Training in appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint within 30 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Handle with Care training and Service Excellence Training within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation is preferred.
• Experience with behavioral health patients is preferred.
• Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients is beneficial.
• Familiarity with older adult care practices is advantageous.
• Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting is highly desirable.
• Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
• Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
• Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
• Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
• Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.
