About The Position

This role is for a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The primary focus is on ensuring donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing lab results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The position operates under the guidance of the Center Manager for operations and the Center Physician for medical issues, while also supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduation from a recognized educational nursing program meeting state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs, including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical/technical guidance, and donor safety/eligibility.
• Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
• Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
