About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is a full-time role within the Surgery Center, located in Williamsburg, Virginia. The RN works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the comprehensive nursing care of assigned patients. This includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The role emphasizes utilizing communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop individualized care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional staff to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations within Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments is essential. The position operates within a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to Riverside Health System's standards of excellence and facility goals.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90 days of start)
  • PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 180 days of start)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
  • Critical care experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice relevant to the specialty or patient population served in Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments.
  • Partner with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes.
  • Assess and incorporate evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitate safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
  • Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education methods for patient/family comprehension.
  • Individualize and coordinate patient education, including discharge-specific education for family/caregivers, and evaluate for patient comprehension, documenting accordingly.
  • Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Evaluate own needs for support and utilize identified systems to meet those needs.
  • Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure consistent, competent, and ethical care.
  • Focus on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer needs, including current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
