About The Position

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, aiming to assist patients in attaining, maintaining, and restoring health. Competency is determined by demonstrated knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for the position. The RN provides patient care by utilizing the Nursing Process, adhering to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.

Requirements

  • Graduate from NLN School of Nursing
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi
  • Complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
  • Complete and maintain specialty certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP) within 12 months of working in a specialty area, and 18 months for TNCC in the Emergency Department
  • Complete de-escalation training by the end of position orientation (90 days) with an appropriate level of training
  • Demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
  • Demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required
  • Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
  • Possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
  • Possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
  • Be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience
  • Experience within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program
