About The Position

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) at Texas Health Plano will bring their passion to the team to be Better + Together. This role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, including assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care. The RN will incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiate actions to meet patient information needs, and maintain continuity of patient care across shifts and transfers. Texas Health Plano is a 366-bed, Magnet-designated hospital and a recognized clinical leader, providing technologically advanced care to the Plano, Frisco, and surrounding communities since 1991. This full-service facility offers a wide range of specialties and is known for its advanced surgical services and Level IV NICU. The hospital has over 1,600 employees and more than 1,360 physicians on its medical staff. It is an Advanced Level II Trauma Facility, an accredited Chest Pain Center, recognized as the “Best Place to Have a Baby” in Collin County, and a Gold-Level Mother Friendly business. Requirements

  • Associate degree Nursing required or Nursing Diploma
  • 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an L&D RN residency program (Required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (Required upon hire)
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly (Required)
  • IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring 6 Months (Required upon hire)
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req

Nice To Haves

  • BSN (Preferred)
  • 1 Year of Labor & Delivery experience (Strongly Preferred)
  • Baby catching experience (Helpful)
  • Charge Nurse Labor & Delivery experience (Preferred)
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days (Required) And
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days (Required) And
  • NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
