About The Position

The Trauma Coordinator is essential to creating and maintaining a successful trauma program. The function of this role is to support optimal trauma care through professional and public education, participating in research, providing feedback to ensure quality care is being provided, and community outreach. The Trauma Coordinator works collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director to identify Performance Improvement Patient Safety (PIPS) opportunities. This role is responsible for tracking and trending hospital events for trauma patients as well as assisting in creating performance improvement initiatives to continually improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • 2 years EMS or hospital nursing experience
  • 2 years quality improvement experience
  • 2 years trauma experience
  • IL issued Registered Nurse License
  • IL issued Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) licensure, or obtained within one year of hire
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented

  • Performance improvement experience
  • 2 years of Leadership experience
  • 2 years as a direct trauma care nurse
  • Trauma Nursing Core Centrification (TNCC)
  • AIS injury coding certification
  • ATS trauma registry course
  • Teaching experience
  • Trauma registries navigation
  • Knowledge of the Illinois Department of Public Health Trauma Administrative Code
