Plans and delivers professional nursing care to patients. This role involves providing care to patients under the direction of a physician, mentoring and training new staff and students, and performing acts within the scope of practice defined by the applicable licensing board. The position requires demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care according to unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include accurately evaluating patient needs, maintaining comprehensive care plans, promoting patient independence through goal setting and family involvement, administering medications accurately and evaluating their effects, and educating patients and families on various aspects of care, disease processes, and symptom management. The role also involves timely and accurate documentation, observing and reporting changes in patient condition, acting in accordance with the organization's mission, vision, and values, and adhering to privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI). Effective communication and professional working relationships with all stakeholders are essential.
