About The Position

Provide safe efficient nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Minimum of One Year OR RN Experience Strongly Preferred
  • (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required)
  • Evidence of the ability to assume responsibility of the surgical coordinator (Required)
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Meet qualifications of surgical coordinator. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrates skills in human relations and excellence in nursing. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate change (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrates interdisciplinary communication and leadership (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily flow of OR control desk and scheduling office in conjunction with management team and anesthesia coordinator
  • Communicates essential information in perioperative area regarding placement of add-ons, delays, cancellations, nursing assignments and changes in operational activities.
  • Actively participates in process for operational and quality improvement
  • Provide skilled clinical care through collaboration, leadership, education, management, and communication
  • Maintaining efficient use of OR time by utilizing surgeon priorities, credentials, equipment and instruments conflicts and projected lengths of time required for each surgical procedures.
  • Assures that staff knowledge and skill levels are adequate for each surgical procedure.
  • Involved in promoting learning through proper nursing assignments with specific surgical cases
  • Works collaboratively with anesthesia, CSP, ORAs, surgeons, PACU, and nursing staff to promote most efficient and optimal utilization of the OR surgical daily schedule.
  • Provide leadership through conducting proper, professional behavior.
  • Works clinically in various services as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
