About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is for the Stroke/ACE Med/Surg unit at West Allis Medical Center. The unit has 34 inpatient beds and a patient population focused on Neuro, Stroke, Seizures, Diabetes, Electrolyte Imbalance, Kidney Disease, Mental Health, Dementia, and Alzheimer's. The culture is described as collaborative, supportive, and a teaching environment with a skill mix of new graduates and experienced staff. The typical RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. The role involves building foundational skills through Nurse Residency and preceptor-directed orientation, developing skills in time management, triaging, communication, pharmacology, lab interpretation, and pathophysiology. The RN will coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, develop collaborative relationships with a multidisciplinary team, and provide continuity of care through patient-centered care and team-minded support. The position is part of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to delivering quality and compassionate healthcare.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
  • Build skills in time management, triaging accountabilities, communication skills, pharmacology, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process through a variety of med/surg patients with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
  • Be a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.
