Registered Nurses are a key member of the multi-disciplinary team that collaborates together to provide patient-centered care. Within the Nursing Department, RNs coordinate, direct, delegate, and provide care to multiple patients. Using a patient and family-centered care approach, each RN develops relationships with patients, families, and colleagues that enhance the quality of care provided. Nursing care is performed with compassion and courtesy, and each RN is responsible for following departmental policies and service standards. Patient and family education is a primary focus of rehabilitation nursing and is a critical aspect of the interdisciplinary team’s efforts to assist patients to gain independence, apply adaptation strategies, and return home. Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is a nationally recognized leader in inpatient rehabilitation, providing hospital-level care for patients with complex neurological conditions. Our Inpatient Acute Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Unit specializes in caring for patients with spinal cord injuries who require intensive rehabilitation, close medical oversight, and coordinated interdisciplinary care to maximize functional independence. As an RN in the SCI unit, you’ll provide comprehensive nursing care including patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and clinical coordination for patients with high-acuity neurological needs. You’ll collaborate closely with LPNs, therapists, and physicians to manage complex medical conditions, support intensive therapy, and facilitate safe discharge planning. This unit is ideal for RNs who thrive in a hospital-level rehab environment, enjoy working with complex neurological patients, and want to make a meaningful impact by helping patients regain independence and improve quality of life after spinal cord injury.
