About The Position

As an RN on Special Care Nursery, you must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient, specifically newborns. The RN must use their knowledge to assess the physical and emotional needs of the patient/family and develop a plan of care that incorporates these principles. The RN must have the ability to implement the plan, supervise others with the implementation, and assess its effectiveness. The role involves providing care to critically ill newborns and their families in a safe and nurturing environment, with consideration given to age and developmental level. The RN is responsible for the coordination of the patient’s care.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in a BSN or MSN program from an accredited school of professional nursing within six months of hire or rehire and graduate on or before the third employment anniversary date into a nursing position.
At least 6 months nursing experience, preferably in maternal child health nursing.
Must meet all requirements for basic RN job description and performs independently for all elements.
Current RN licensure by the NJ State Board of Nursing.
BLS (American Heart Association) required.
NRP required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

BSN or MSN graduates preferred.
National certification preferred.
