About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Special Care Nursery at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. The position requires 36 hours per week, with night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, including every other weekend. The nurse will deliver patient care using the nursing process, including data collection, assessment, problem identification, care planning, and evaluation. Responsibilities include coordinating and directing patient teaching and collaborating with health team members. The nurse will also conduct ongoing patient assessments, implement treatment plans, administer medications safely, and act as a patient safety advocate by participating in quality improvement initiatives. The role emphasizes a compassionate, relationship-based approach to care.

Requirements

  • 2 years prior Nursery RN experience (Level II-IV)
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice
  • Associate of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment.
  • Identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs.
  • Evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care.
  • Coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities.
  • Coordinates the care provided by health team members.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Analyzes assessment data and creates a plan of care.
  • Implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures.
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
