Riverside Smithfield Hospital, opening in early 2026, aims to provide high-quality healthcare closer to home for Isle of Wight County residents. The new hospital, located on a 27-acre medical campus, features modern facilities and comprehensive medical services, including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, and 4 Operating Rooms. The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The RN may work in various settings within the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex and roles across Riverside Health System. The role involves utilizing communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create patient care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care and must demonstrate competence in managing age-related needs of specific patient populations within Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments. Working under leadership and a multi-disciplinary team, the RN provides a comprehensive range of services in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards of excellence and facility goals.
