About The Position

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program Coordinator, in conjunction with leadership, is responsible for the organization of SANE services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to patients. This includes, but is not limited to, responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care provided, program evaluation, clinical orientation, mentoring, consultation, and the maintenance of state and national standards of care. Provides timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. This will include a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support, and participation in legal proceedings. The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or management of the SANE program for which the SANE is employed. The SANE is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • Unrestricted State DL.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Completed approved Illinois SANE training (40 hours of Didactic coursework)
  • Complete the initial Pediatric SANE training within 6 months of hire.
  • One (1) year of experience as SANE required.
