About The Position

This Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and delivery of quality forensic care to designated regional community hospital sites in the UH system under the directive of the Adult Forensic SANE Coordinator that is in alignment with the goals and mission of the Blair Dickey-White Sexual Assault Survivor program. The Forensic RN serves under the direction of the Forensic SANE Coordinator and works collaboratively to ensure the implementation of programming initiatives, training and quality assurance of community SANE providers, and timely up-to-date education of the community. This Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and delivery of quality forensic care to designated regional community hospital sites in the UH system under the directive of the Adult Forensic SANE Coordinator that is in alignment with the goals and mission of the Blair Dickey-White Sexual Assault Survivor program. The Forensic RN serves under the direction of the Forensic SANE Coordinator and works collaboratively to ensure the implementation of programming initiatives, training and quality assurance of community SANE providers, and timely up-to-date education of the community. Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing or
  • (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
  • We are looking for someone who has completed an Adult/Adolescent SANE training certified through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).
  • Has completed additional didactic SANE training including four hours of court observation, training with the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, Cleveland Sex Crime department and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Center, or complete with 1 year of hire.
  • Demonstrated skills in human relations & material resource management. Evidence of ability to provide exceptional clinical skills; willingness to precept new nurses to the team.
  • Minimum three years of nursing experience, strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power point and other media platforms

Nice To Haves

  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • (MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from accredited program is preferred. Completion of first year of Master’s in Forensic Nursing (may substitute for 4o Hour didactic training); completion of didactic training must be completed within 6 months of hire.
  • Receipt of SANE-A is the goal of all applicants.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
