Additionally, the role includes leading efforts to improve Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI), leading performance improvement initiatives, monitoring patient and unit safety standards, coaching other nurses on performance improvement and evidence-based practice, complying with and leading regulatory activities, and leading projects using a specific framework. Operational duties include performing charge nurse roles, overseeing unit orientation, serving as a liaison for various departments, mentoring and coaching nurses, role-modeling and holding peers accountable for health work environment guidelines, and orienting nurses to the unit's governance structure. Professional development involves serving as an expert preceptor, coach, and mentor, leading unit processes for ancillary personnel development and peer review, and actively advancing one's own practice. Patient safety is paramount, requiring ensuring safety in job functions, participating in safety initiatives, taking action to correct risks, reporting adverse events, and identifying and communicating process risks.
