About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric / Behavioral Health for a 13-week night-shift contract in Lewiston, Maine. The RN will provide direct and indirect behavioral health nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team, including medication administration, patient education, behavioral monitoring, and clinical documentation. The position primarily supports an inpatient behavioral health population and requires flexibility to float to Chemical Dependency / Detox as needed. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, professional boundaries, teamwork, and the ability to remain effective in stressful clinical situations.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 Years of Nursing Experience Required
• Current, Active Maine Registered Nurse License Required
• Current BLS/BCLS Certification Required
• Current CPI Training / Certification Required
• Associate Degree in Nursing Required
• Ability to Work 3x12-Hour Night Shifts, Required Holiday Coverage, and Float to Chemical Dependency / Detox Required
• Candidate Must Reside More Than 50 Miles From the Assignment Location

Nice To Haves

• Previous Psychiatric / Behavioral Health Nursing Experience Preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect psychiatric nursing care while assessing patient needs and monitoring behavioral and clinical status.
• Administer medications, provide medication education, and document patient care accurately and consistently.
• Monitor and manage patient behaviors while maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and professional treatment environment.
• Participate in and lead patient education groups while communicating effectively with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Float to Chemical Dependency / Detox as required and collaborate with the healthcare team to support coordinated behavioral health care.
