About The Position

King William Primary Care is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. This position is a new addition to the practice, which sees family medicine patients five days a week and has a small pediatric presence one day a week. The clinic is located in Aylett, VA, between Mechanicsville and Tappahannock. The hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The RN will integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs, assist the healthcare team with illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision. The role involves delivering and documenting age-specific care, safely administering medications, and identifying incompatibilities or interactions. Depending on the level (Clinical Nurse I, II, or III), responsibilities may include directing and educating others, acquiring leadership skills, recognizing and intervening in patient changes, mobilizing resources, and serving as a role model. The RN will practice within the regulations of Virginia and follow established policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of one year of RN experience.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date unless grandfathered under previous requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Triage experience a plus.
• Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clin I).
• Academic Health Care Experience; Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice (for Clin II, Clin III).
• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program.
• Certification in specialty area (for Clin III).

Responsibilities

• Integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family.
• Assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
• Provides direction, education, and begins to acquire leadership skills at the unit level.
• Delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
• Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
• Recognizes changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately.
• Mobilizes resources to meet the individualized needs of patient/families.
• Organizes work and delegates and supervises others (RN's, LPN's, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments.
