About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for preparing and educating patients and families on pre and post-operative instructions, including recovering patients after outpatient procedures. This is a PRN position, with shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 0600 AM to 0300 PM CST, as needed. Regular attendance and reporting to work promptly are essential.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • 1-2 years of PACU, CCU, ICU, ER experience required
  • ACLS and BLS and CPR certifications required

Nice To Haves

  • Ambulatory Surgery Center or Outpatient Clinic experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient status on admission to pre-op or post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
  • Provides safe, quality patient care to the Pre-op and Post-op patient by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities.
  • Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
  • Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts.
  • Administration of medications and IV fluids based on age of the patient and patient's clinical condition.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Charts patient information accurately and timely.
  • Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.).
  • Provide instant medical care in emergencies.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures if required.
