About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for preparing and educating patients and families on pre and post-operative instructions, including recovering patients after outpatient procedures. This is a PRN position, with shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 0600 AM to 0300 PM CST, as needed. Regular attendance and reporting to work promptly are essential.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
1-2 years of PACU, CCU, ICU, ER experience required
ACLS and BLS and CPR certifications required

Nice To Haves

Ambulatory Surgery Center or Outpatient Clinic experience preferred

Responsibilities

Assesses patient status on admission to pre-op or post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
Provides safe, quality patient care to the Pre-op and Post-op patient by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities.
Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians.
Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts.
Administration of medications and IV fluids based on age of the patient and patient's clinical condition.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Charts patient information accurately and timely.
Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.).
Provide instant medical care in emergencies.
Assist surgeons during procedures if required.
