About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre-Op Unit is responsible for providing care to patients in preoperative and recovery beds. The unit has 9 preoperative beds and 5 Phase 2 recovery beds. The team consists of 8 full-time RNs (with 2 open positions), 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, and 1 unit Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). The patient ratio is 1:3. The unit utilizes Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, and bladder scanner. The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Meditech. The role prioritizes a positive patient experience and effective communication. It offers opportunities to work with new equipment and technology, alongside a dedicated team, with flexible scheduling options. On-call rotations are required, with a 30-minute response time when on-call. Two 10-hour on-call shifts are required every 8 weeks.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of current acute care Pre-Op RN hospital experience.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in preoperative settings.
• Ability to assist preoperative staff.
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in preoperative beds.
• Provide care in Phase 2 recovery beds.
• Assist preoperative staff.
• Perform outpatient infusions, EKGs, blocks, and blood transfusions.
• Participate in on-call rotations, requiring a 30-minute response time.
