About The Position
Shriners Children’s is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This role involves providing emergency intensive care to critically ill pediatric burn patients. The nurse will support patients throughout their recovery journey, from admission to discharge and follow-up care, witnessing their growth and recovery. Requirements
- BSN degree or in progress
- Texas RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Two years’ acute care hospital experience
Nice To Haves
- Previous ICU, PACU or NICU experience
- Pediatric experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Responsibilities
- Assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis.
- Involves patient, family and health care team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.
- Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family and health care team members.
- Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.
- Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan of care.
