About The Position

This is a 13-week temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The assignment requires 36 hours per week with available day and night shifts (12-hour shifts). This is a full-time position and requires working weekends and holidays as per unit needs. The role is not benefit-eligible but offers an elevated flat rate, shift differentials, and overtime pay. The position involves managing individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process and principles of primary nursing, in accordance with departmental and hospital policies. The nurse will collect comprehensive patient data, formulate nursing diagnoses, develop and follow a plan of care, implement and coordinate care delivery, evaluate progress, and collaborate with families. The role also involves integrating research findings, contributing to the professional development of peers, and maintaining current knowledge and competency in nursing practice. Decisions and actions are to be made ethically on behalf of the patient and family.

Requirements

Bachelors or Associates of Nursing
Nursing Licensure for State of Tennessee
At least 2 years ICU experience required
Meditech and EPIC experience preferred
BLS/ PALS required prior to start
Compact license required
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Demonstrated clinical abilities.

Nice To Haves

PICU experience preferred
Pediatric nursing experience preferred
If prior Dolly Children's employee, must be separated for at least 1 year

Responsibilities

Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare needs of patients and formulates nursing diagnoses based on the analysis of that assessment data, and documents data in a concise and timely manner.
Develops and follows a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
Identifies expected outcomes for the plan of care individualized to the child, family, and situation.
Implements and coordinates the delivery of care while employing strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Evaluates progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
Collaborates with the family in the conduct of nursing practice.
