Plans and delivers professional nursing care to patients. This role involves providing care under the direction of a physician, mentoring and training new staff, and performing acts within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable licensing board. The nurse will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include accurately evaluating patient needs, reviewing and maintaining a comprehensive care plan, promoting patient independence by establishing patient care goals and involving the patient and family in discussions, providing for accurate administration and evaluation of medication, educating the patient/family on various aspects of care, completing timely and accurate documentation, observing patients' conditions and reporting changes, acting in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values, and abiding by privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI). The role also requires maintaining effective communication and professional working relationships with patients, families, team members, physicians, and other stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.
