About The Position

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) Company, is seeking skilled Registered Nurse (RN) candidates, skilled in Pediatrics for a position at Ft Hood medical center. This role will support high-quality patient care across multispecialty clinical settings by assessing patients, administering medications and treatments, coordinating referrals, assisting with procedures, and documenting care accurately in the electronic health record. The ideal candidate will bring recent hands-on nursing experience, sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, providers, and multidisciplinary teams. Candidates should be comfortable working flexible shifts based on mission needs, including possible days, evenings, nights, weekends, training holidays, and federal holidays. Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Associates Degree of Nursing
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Shall possess one (1) year of clinical or inpatient experience, post-education/graduation and post-licensure, within the last two (2) years providing direct care in multispecialty inpatient or outpatient clinical settings.
  • Experience must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nurse care for patients across diverse medical and surgical specialties in accordance with current professional nursing standards
  • Pediatrics: BLS, PALS
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA or American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
  • Perform physical exam and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
  • Performs independent, comprehensive telephone, clinical triaging, and facilitate care throughout multidisciplinary locations.
  • Acts as relief nurse, triages, and screens walk-in patients to assess the severity of the patient’s condition and need for provider intervention.
  • Communicate with other providers regarding determinations and situations relating to direct patient care.
  • Screens patient charts to assess medical history to determine health care needs.
  • Makes psychosocial assessment of patients to identify significant cultural practices, ability to understand and cooperate, and expectations of care and coping mechanisms.
  • Executes and/or ensures the completion of orders from health care providers.
  • Recognizes and reports abnormal test results, changes in symptoms, and the need for follow-up.
  • Records required data in patient charts.
  • Assists health care providers with examinations and procedures.
  • Responsible for educating patients for high risk, painful, or stressful procedures with education and support.
  • Monitors or ensure the monitoring of patients pre, during, and postprocedures per CRDAMC MTF guidelines.
  • Assess post-procedure patients prior to their release from the clinic.
  • Monitors patients pre, during, and post procedures.

  • Prepares and administers oral, subcutaneous, intra-muscular, and intravenous medications.
  • Complete thorough and accurate documentation, within established guidelines, for all patient care and procedures.
  • Demonstrates and instructs patients on the proper administration self-medicated prescriptions.
  • Educate patients and ensure distributed instructions are understood for maintenance of health and self-care.
  • Provides clinic one-on-one patient orientation and educational activities related to acute and/or chronic illnesses, self-care, wellness and/or preventive health measures, normal development, and physiology.
  • Assesses patients’ emotional, cognitive, social, and motivational status relative to education and determines patients and/or family educational needs and priorities.
  • Interact with patients and/or family in stressful environments.
  • Assists patients’ compliance with medical treatment plans telephonically or through in-person clinic visits.
  • Identify self as a contract worker, coordinate patient referrals to a variety of health care services to include, but not limited to, community health nurse, health promotion center, social work service, dietician, clinical nurse specialist, chaplain, and other ancillary services as directed by attending physician.
  • After physician approval, performs nursing assessment of patients’ conditions, nursing diagnosis, and formulates and adjusts nursing plan of care to include nursing orders to support patients’ evolving condition.
  • Coordinates prescription refills and after physician approval provides reassurance and/or advice regarding side effects of medications.
  • Use tact and diplomacy in notifying patients of laboratory tests that are abnormal per provider instructions, instructing patients on further care.
