About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse position in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at James and Connie Maynard Hospital offers an incentive bonus of up to $30,000. The PICU is a 12-bed unit with an ideal staffing ratio of 1:1 or 1:2, caring for critically ill pediatric patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, severe cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, sepsis, trauma, hematologic/oncologic complications, and those requiring ECMO or CRRT. The role involves providing and coordinating nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, with sensitivity to age-specific needs. The nurse will also promote and evaluate the healthcare team's functioning and delegate tasks as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher
  • 1+ years experience is required.
  • Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • Health Care Provider is required.
  • Basic Life Support is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree is preferred.
  • Preferred experience in Pediatrics, ICU and Emergency Room.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, and other established standards.
  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with ECU Health and entity-specific nursing policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Provide and coordinate nursing care, including collection and analysis of assessment data.
  • Identify expected outcomes and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Identify interventions to attain expected outcomes, implement them, and evaluate patient/family progress.
  • Document the care process.
  • Provide care with sensitivity to age-specific and unique needs of the patient/family.
  • Promote and evaluate the effective functioning of the health care team.
  • Collaborate with health care team members to meet patient/family needs throughout the episode of care.
  • Delegate tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by NC Nurse Practice Act.
